Well chaps, it's been a fun ride, one which it would seem everyone has more or less gotten off. This blog was a nice chance to vent, get to know you guys a bit better, and toss out a few ideas, but its time is over.
Over the past year I've done a lot of thinking, and have grown a lot. I can see the whiny child I've been, see the active ways I fought to stay in my state in arrested development because growth meant facing a few things I just didn't want to yet. However, I don't regret this experiment, the forever-alone posts, the pleas for attention, and the constant striving for validation and human contact, none of it. It all served its purpose in stress release, and ultimately proved very enlightening. I may start a new blog at some point, but it will assuredly have some purpose not so self-indulgent.
If anyone is actually still lurking around and reading this, adieu.
see you when I see you.

bored at work
if i were a book i'd be hardcover b/c i like wearing a jacket
if i were a star trek character i'd be the guy who dies in a panel explosion
if i were a toaster i'd have 4 slots, b/c two is too slow
if i were a game controller i'd be wireless b/c i'm not that demanding on people
if i were a geological formation i'd be an escarpment b/c i have trouble defining myself
if i were a typeface i'd be Lucida Fax b/c i just like the way it looks
if i were a movie director i'd be john carpenter b/c i like doing a lot with very little
if i were a wall i would be brick b/c the other types are lies
if i were a post-it note i would have a drawing of Mario being chased by a giant goomba
if i were a spreadsheet i would be hard-coded b/c i'm resistant to change
if i were an item i would be that ammo you find when you're already full but will want later
if i were a door i would be revolving b/c i'm always closed, even when i'm open
if i were a floor i would be hardwood with carpet underneath
if i were a website i would be porn b/c of statistics
if i were a video game i would be a wrpg b/c jrpg's are teh suck
if i were a pair of shoes i would be the destroyed but comfy pair you miss wearing
if i had anything interesting to say, i wouldnt have to write crap like this

stalling
so much work this weekend. 2 papers, one speech, and two job interviews all coming together from monday to wednesday. Stupid speech, i can't believe they slated me for the first day again, not cool. It's supposed to be an "entertaining" speech. Kind of like a comedy act, but more structured. You'd think it would be fun, and you'd be right. Except I have no ideas whatsoever that seem feasible. So nervous, what if noone laughs, that would be harsh.
anyways, in the spirit of not doing any work, lets talk about something dear to my heart: my dislike of old movies
So why do I generally not like old movies? Is it the stories? no, they generally seem to be good. Is it the actors? Partly, I'm human, and as such I like to see familiar faces, but that's not it either. Is it the black/white? Hell no, Sin City was awesome, so was Clerks and many others. It's not the score, not the length, definitely not the sound (i love those exaggerated sound effects, when they lock a door, they *mean* it), and its not the dialogue.
It's the PACING! I tell ya, they did NOT know how to direct or edit properly back then, b/c, my God! Scenes that add nothing to the narrative or character development just go on and on for no reason. I'm all for creating an atmosphere, but enough is enough. Everything just drags, it kills the mood and makes the experience tedious, even if the other parts of the movie were good.
